How do I catch a connecting flight to a neighbor island from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport?
A good tip is find out the name of the connecting flight when you are making the reservations. If you are flying with Hawaiian Airlines to the neighbor islands, you will depart from Terminal 1. If you are flying with Mokulele to the neighbor islands, you will depart from Terminal 3, which is on the Diamond Head side of the airport and can be accessed via Aolele Street with the entrance between the Delta Cargo and United Cargo facilities.
To and from Terminals 1 and 2:
- Via the Intra-Airport Transportation System: This is a free shuttle that provides transportation around the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport between terminal buildings. There will be signs directing you to the Shuttle. Shuttle bus stops are located outside each Terminal on the first level at curbside. Service routes will extend around Terminals 1, 2, and 3 approximately every 20 minutes. Visitor information booths in Terminal 2 can provide additional assistance.
- A 10-15 minute walk: This is a 10-15 minute walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. There will be signs directing you to “Interisland Flights”.
To and from Terminal 3:
- Via the Intra-Airport Transportation System: This is a free shuttle that provides transportation around the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport between terminal buildings. There will be signs directing you to the Shuttle. Shuttle bus stops are located outside each Terminal on the first level at curbside. Service routes will extend around Terminals 1, 2, and 3 approximately every 20 minutes. Visitor information booths in Terminal 2 can provide additional assistance.
- Terminal 3 parking is available including 42 standard public stalls and two Americans with Disabilities Act stalls. The public will be required to pre-pay their parking fees before checking-in for their flight.

There are courtesy phones at Terminals 1 and 2 and Visitor Information Assistance Counters between the hours of 5:00 a.m. through 10:45 p.m daily.
I have a connecting flight to a neighbor island from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. How is my luggage being handled?
Most airlines will check your luggage through to your final destination. Please request your checked luggage is tagged to your final destination at your point of origin. The claim ticket has the airport code for the final destination for your luggage. Example: You have claim tickets and are arriving at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and you have a connecting flight to Maui. If the final destination on the claim ticket reads HNL, your luggage will be dropped off at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. You will need to retrieve your luggage from Baggage Claim and take your luggage with you to the connecting flight. The common airport codes are:
